General Question about Units

Are the numbers people put next to their picks the suggested units to play (e.g.Portland NCAA 1.0/2.76)? Or does it have to do with the line. I usually like to bet between $50 and $100 a game. What should I designate one unit to be?

The unit is the average wager amount one would play. I am a $100 bettor. A unit to me is $100. Hope that helps.

Units can be classified in different ways when betting. Similar to the classification of units by women everyone has a different opinion as to how big someones unit is or was!!

For me a unit is 1% of total bankroll. If my bankroll is $ 10,000 then a 1 unit bet would be $100. I usually bet 2-4 units a game, but never exceed 6 units on any one bet.

Kevinla,
Units are what people use as an excuse to have a bet when they are not really sure.

Those numbers in that example are return rates.. Based on 1 dollar.. A ml fav would be a number less than 2, fwiw..
Regarding units, it will pay in the long run to make all bets the same amount (one unit), whatever your unit amount may be.. Your unit amount should be 1-2.5% of bankroll (as stated earlier), but the same every time. When your bankroll increases 50%, your unit amount will change (but still the same %).. Hope this helps..

mhk,
Why make it complicated. Bet the same money on picks until your up money, then press up.
If your down money after a certain time, ask yourself if you should be betting NFL.

Yeah units are how much you like a game. I've been gambling for over 30 years and have some advice for you. play your strongest plays but always play for 1 unit which would be 1% of your bankroll "as long as your bankroll is 50k plus" if below this amount you should not be gambling. If your recreational gambler you should bet a little less per wager and dont try to seperate strong plays from weak just narrow to a few strong plays and stick to that for same betting amount.
